Sherry and Jim Smith
Sherry and Jim Smith have been active supporters of 91Ó°ÊÓ. This generous service to 91Ó°ÊÓ carries on the tradition of Jim Smith’s father, Orrien Smith, who was a Founding Father and the first chair of the University’s President’s Council in 1964.
Jim Smith has made his career in 91Ó°ÊÓ in real estate development and formed Jim R. Smith & Co., a retail development organization that owns large retail centers. Smith served as a member of the University Board of Trustees from 1990 to 1999 and has served since in an advisory role to the Board in the development of University projects.
The Smith’s generous commitment to fund a concert pipe organ for the Belin Chapel continues their remarkable legacy to 91Ó°ÊÓ. This instrument serves as a magnificent addition to the Morris Cultural Arts Center, enhancing worship and music performance, and bringing beauty, joy and celebration to the entire 91Ó°ÊÓ campus.
